  • Conserve energy - turn off appliances and lights when you leave the room.
  • Recycle paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans. (This conserves energy and reduces production emissions.)
  • Choose products that have less packaging and are reusable.
  • Buy rechargeable batteries for devices used frequently
  • Save energy around the house. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, saving energy can reduce carbon emissions.
  • Manage your heating and cooling. Turn your thermostat down in the winter and up in the summer whenever you are at work, sleeping or on vacation.
  • Reduce the amount of time you spend in the car. Carpool or use public transportation whenever you can.
  • Improve your fuel economy
  • Try walking or biking
  • Shop bu email
  • Report Smoking Vehicles
  • Use fan Instead of  AC
  • Insulate Your Water Heater
  • Give a Message - "Support Healthy Air"

Want to know more. Please come with your suggestions.

Thank You,

Thank You,

We do almost all of that. Not the air con bit - we don't have it and it's not common in residences here.
All the recycling is taken care of at home and at work. We have to comply with the WEEE directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Our house has double glazing, cavity wall insulation, and loft insulation. And the hot water tank is insulated.

We work from home when we can which is usually three days a week. Or five if you count weekends. So that saves on car journeys and the one car we have is very frugal.

All the above may seem altruistic and possibly it is. More pragmatically, they save money as well as the environment.

Also, we shop on line for almost everything. Including groceries. This also a green thing to do - and it avoids the crowded supermarkets with the dawdlers, the gawpers and the disorganised who start to look for their cards or payment method after their purchases have gone through the checkout.......don't they realise beforehand that they have to pay???
That irks me, as you can probably tell.

My number one tip would be reducing electrical usage. Most of America's electric still comes from coal=pollution emissions.
There are numerous ways to do that.

If you're able to, switch to solar panels and thumb your nose (or finger, as the mood suits you- ) at coal
completely.
Drive less-use public transportation; bike, walk.
Buy an electric car (still out of reach for most of us)
Plant trees and then plant some more. They help clean the air.

If you still have a lawn, eliminate it. Gas powered mowers add to air pollution and use up water resources.
If you want to keep a small area of grass for the kids to play on; then use an electric mower or weed trimmer,
or manual push mower. Use captured rainwater to water it.

Be proactive. There are many sites that have petitions to sign. Many voices are heard quicker than one.
