A proposed wind farm project is set Bay County Florida counties many divided.Those in support are looking forward to an alternative energy solution in their region, monthly lease payments for allowing a Florida-based energy company to install a nearly 500-foot wind turbine on their property and an overall economic boom to the area. Those not in favor are concerned for their quality of life. They fear light flicker in their homes, vibration and noises from massive spinning blades and a potential impact on their community's agricultural economy.

A group of about 20 residents, calling themselves the “Concerned Citizens of Merritt Township,” aren’t filing petitions but are going to residents’ homes providing information on what they call the dangers of wind farms.
