Alternative forms of electricity generation

"Power, electricity we crave it we need it. For millennia man had been looking for ways to harness its power. In developed countries we’re mostly okay, except for occasional incidents where we have power outages through natural disaster or overloaded and faulty equipment. But even so we still need new ways of developing electricity that doesn’t involve using fuel. With this in mind third world countries, where regular power supply isn’t taken for granted, have become the testing ground for some exciting new technologies and new implementations of existing technology that will harvest energy.

In 1991, British inventor Trevor Baylis patented the windup radio, which was a modern interpretation of World War 2 survival radios. Trevor’s idea was to bring information and entertainment to the remote masses of Africa, who were at that time being publicized because of the AIDS crisis. Following the success of this, other devices using new improved springs and small rechargeable batteries were developed.
