it is very interesting to point out that here in Israel almost every house has a water heating tank that runs on solar power.
There are definitely cities all around the world that have enough sun to heat water for showers.

It is actually quite amazing how little sunlight is required to obtain value from solar hot water heating systems. There are home installations in the northern US and Canada that can even supply hot water to houses into the winter by combining good insulation techniques and effective solar collection strategies. With so much electricity, oil and natural gas used simply to heat water, it would make a lot of sense to get more houses converted over to solar hot water heating.

Nice to know that. Here no need to heat water since it was already hot dur to weather. ;)
There could be enough sunlight here too but the problem is the initiative of the people to have solar panels and also funds issue for that.

ah I see. Hawaii would definitely benefit from this movement. As would so many other cities all around the world. The sun is giving us so much renewable energy all the time, if only harvesting it was more efficient.
