We have a thread on
"More good news on solar"
http://www.altenergy...-news-on-solar/

and
"More good news on wind"
http://www.altenergy...for-wind-power/

but we don't have one on
"More good news on renewables"; so here it is.
Please post any good news links for bio-mass, geo-thermal, etc. here.

For the first 10 months of 2013, renewables have accounted for nearly a third
of electrical generation. (32.8%)

From your link:

Despite efforts and money spent from ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), renewables are moving forward.
Article and map show states were alec's bs failed.

And although Texas is a red state, they are making great progress in renewables.

Man has burned wood, charcoal and dried animal dung for heat since caveman days but in the past hundred years we have turned to underground fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. Biofuels are the best way of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.

Our quest to be Energy independent is now embrassed by two giants: Apple and Google. It tells that there is hope. The question is what each person can do to ensure we approach a 100% GREEN CLEAN RENEWABLE ENERGY. Each one of us must do our part, we create over 37 Millions Green Jobs , ensure everyone has electricity and heat and remove the dependency on foreign oil.

As much as I agree with you, coal is worse than oil, imo. They are both fossil fuels and oil is horrid but to me, coal is worse.

**And welcome to the forums; glad you're here.

Google is kicking *ss and taking names, in renewables; adding wind and solar in Europe and the states.
Their goal is to be 100% renewable; they're at 33% now.

"Renewable energy capacity (wind) is growing by 25% a year, and solar is growing even faster."
Also from the article-
"In the next 10 years, distributed solar will be competitive (without subsides) with retail electricity prices
of nearly every Midwestern utility."

Other good points about the antiquated power utilities and their old mindset, here-

Renewables like solar and wind use a lot less water than coal, nuclear and natural gas.

Article via Cleantechnica.

And all too often, fossil fuel corporations taint the water they do use.

Battery storage; an ongoing issue.

But New York is moving forward with a million dollar project with the help of a company that owns the metal,
(vanadium) for NYC's subway systems.

"The CellCube batteries use vanadium dissolved in sulfuric acid.
Unlike standard lead-acid batteries or the lithium-ion units used by Tesla,
they can be recharged and discharged indefinitely and may last as long as 20 years."
