Hi guys,
I saw some really cute modern jewelry made from melted pieces of various plastic drink bottles.
I thought this was a pretty cool use of water bottles that would otherwise end up in a landfill because only 20% of plastic bottles actually get recycled.

And here is some more cool jewelry made from melted plastic cups.

Those flowers are very delicate. So, it's melted plastic? It reminds me a bit of what Shrinky Dinks look like when they are in the oven.
It is interesting that she found so many different colors to work with. I usually only see clear or blue plastic bottles that manufactured beverages come in. A couple of the bottles look like they might be cough syrup or over the counter medicine bottles.
The other jewelry is interesting, though I find the flowers more appealing.
Thanks for sharing!

Oh these are pretty! I love when people reuse a product but here's what I'm wondering: while these bottles might get another life as jewelry, they are likely going to end up in a landfill at some point. And now that they've been reformed, they can no longer be recycled, right?

I am always so amazed at the creativity of some people. God gave me many talents, but being artistic and being able to carry a tune are not among them. Those flowers were really awesome.

Wow! Great pieces. Beauttiful colors. So very creative. They remind me of rock candy in a way. Thanks for sharing.

They are really pretty - I've also seen some lovely items knitted with plastic bags that have been carefully cut into very thins strips. They were knitted into jewellry, small bags, place mats etc.

Very pretty! Have you seen the new thing of turning empty wine/vodka bottles into drinking glasses? I've also seen the neck of the bottle cut into little rings and used on jewelry.

I thought the jewellery in the first link was really lovely - the other is not really my taste. Apart from that, the first stuff looks like proper jewellery - the other just looks like something that's been recycled.

That's very beautiful! Just goes to show a little creativity goes a long way. I found this website to be very helpful and have tried a few! http://www.recyclethis.co.uk/

But not enough emphasis was given to the melting part.
It mentions outdoor ovens, but how many diy'ers would do this?
If people did this in their regular ovens, it would fill the home with toxic fumes.
I think a good respirator would be in order. The fumes coming from melting plastics can be very hazardous
to our lungs.
But, if proper precautions are taken, they are lovely.

I had seen some great decors made from recycled cups or plastic bottles but have not seen jewelries made from these materials yet. And those creations really look artistic and neat or pretty.
It seems not that easy to do for me but still it is a great idea to recycle.
