Green Food

Good wine needs no cork. If I had suggested this some years ago, one would have looked at me as if I was insane.  A nice bottle of wine without a real cork is not possible. Even I, a true wine lover, had to get used to the idea of an artificial cork. I agree I was not thinking very green, insisting on a nice cap. But the alternative: plastic. But nowadays we are getting used to the screw cap. It seems that this keeps the wine even better than cork, less discoloration and oxidation.  What must we do with the corkscrew? Anyway the metal cap is recyclable.

When choosing fish you can consider finding sustainable caught fish. There is a distinction between sustainable wild fish:  fish protected from overfishing, and sustainable aquaculture fish:  fish from fresh fish farms which take good care of nature, respect social conditions of the fish and guidelines for food handling.  One can look for the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) label which shows that the fish bought, was not subject to overfishing and the ecosystem was not affected. The fishermen have to use techniques to reduce by-catch.

Tea is a popular and healthy drink. It is even healthier for the environment and yourself to opt for organically grown tea. Biological tea is grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The soil is enriched with natural compost and insects are naturally combated. This improves the quality of soil and plants; the tea does not contain chemical residues. The tea is of a better quality and taste. The tea plants stay healthier and last longer, more than 100 years.
