Boy Frightens Lions

uses Solar Power to protect home and cattle.
Richard Turere's home is in Nairobi National Park,
. . . the worlds highest density of Lion's,
. . . where he tends cattle for his family and
. . . every month, they lost cows, goats and sheep.

At age 11, he took led bulbs from 5 broken flashlights, battery, solar panel and
. . . a box of switches, costing less then 10 dollars,
. . . wired them around the cattle stockade,
. . . where the bulbs flash in sequence, facing outward,
. . . giving the impression that someone is walking around the stockade.

The light system has been working for 2 years and
. . . there has been no loss of livestock, due to lions or thieves.
