The report appears to be credible. I am not a scientist by any means, but it would seem that if you took a viable brain and put it in a chamber, pumped in pollutants, diesel fumes, and even mixed in a bit of oxygen, that brain would shrivel over a period  of time. Our brains need clean oxygen in some percentage, if we can find it, as opposed to gas fumes, in order to function properly. We need to pay attention to this interesting study. Thank you for sharing it.

Good post.

In my opinion, the study doesn't really show strong evidence towards pollution being the cause.  Rather, it shows that people in areas where there is pollution have lower brain function.  There is a difference.  There could be a different factor that is common to polluted areas causing the brain function decrease.

At any rate, sure, breathing in pollution every day can't be good for cognitive skills.

The thought of air pollution having such disastrous effects on peoples brains as not an issue to take lightly. Air pollution is getting worse every day and if the report is to be believed even 1% of it, the n we are all in trouble. The problem is no one wants to listen and the people who can stop some of these pollutions are busy making money on our health expense.
