Arctic sea ice levels are considerably below normal levels.

The average temperature in Alaska was
. . . 19.4° F December, 2017.

Higher temperatures in the Arctic lead to less sea ice.

Less sea ice leads to higher temperatures in the Arctic.
All these factors are self-reinforcing.
