Vermont's, Green Mountain Power (GMP) wants to build a
. . . $3 million Tesla battery, to store about
. . . 1 megawatt of renewable energy,
. . . off of the solar array in Panton, and then
. . . sell it back into the regional grid,
. . . when energy demand peaks.

GMP built the region's first commercial storage battery last year,
. . . near its Stafford Hill Solar project.
Those batteries allow GMP to,
. . . drive down the costs, and also
. . . access stored energy,
. . . if the grid goes down.
Every customer benefits when we do that.

Puerto Rico faces a devastating humanitarian crisis,
. . . an emerging viewpoint is that the island should think twice,
. . . about restoring its electrical system as it’s existed in the past.
Instead, this reasoning goes, Puerto Rico should plan for
. . . more resilient, distributed infrastructure.
Something like Vermont's, Virtual Power Plant.
