Look for "free trade" brands (often children are sold into slave markets across the globe to work in horrific condtions for
food products (candy))
Organic -Less or no chemicals
Local Less transportation emissions from planes or ships
Gluten free; if you have intolerance
Avoid high fructose corn syrup (it's in numerous products)
General rule of thumb; if it has more than 3 ingredients; put it back on the shelf. And especially, if you can't
pronounce the ingredient; put it back.
As a side note; if you have pets-never buy any products not made in America. Foods and treats/play toys.
In recent years the chinese put Melamine (the plastic's that used to be popular as plates) into dog treats shipped
to America. Cats and dogs died.
