I was born, and raised,
. . . during the Great Depression, and
. . . the rationing of World War 2.
Not Homeless,
. . . not rich,
. . . so this is what picture comes to mind.

One, small, multifunctional, room with:
. . . . . . door,
. . . . . . carpet,
. . . . . . window,
. . . . . . bed,
. . . . . . chest of drawers,
. . . . . . table,
. . . . . . chair,
. . . . . . light,
. . . . . . hot plate,
. . . . . . radio,
. . . . . . sink,
. . . . . . mirror,
. . . . . . clothesline,
. . . . . . plant,
, , , all of it rented (not mine)
. . . my closest friend, a stray kitten.

Here's Japan's Style Multi-Functionality,
. . . . . . applied to the image of a "Poor" room:
. . . . . . Tatami Floor "Storage Box's,"
. . . . . . Brighten up the room with "Paint & Ceiling Fan/Light,"
. . . . . . Center Box is really a "Pop-Up Table,"
. . . . . . Seat with legs in the "Chair-height" hole, under the table,
. . . . . . One box becomes the "Kitchen,"
. . . . . . in-floor "Ice Chest,"
. . . . . . Tatami Bed, Sheet and/or Blanket, & Pillow/Back-Rest,
. . . . . . "Small Electric Heater" attached to the underside of the table (for Winter time)
. . . . . . Everything stores, out of the way, in the floor box's.
It only needs a BIG window, to let more light in, to brighten the room up.

In Japan this is called "Horigotatsu."
. . . Doesn't it look - Rich!
