Cheap Battery Technology,

Battery Storage at utility scale,
. . . could close 1/2 the world’s existing power plants,
. . . just by modulating peaks, and troughs in demand.

Batteries can allow buildings to operate as hybrids,
. . . much like the Toyota Prius,

Advanced Microgrid announced plans,
. . . to purchase 5,000 Tesla Powerpack batteries,
. . . worth an estimated $125 million.

Panasonic announced rival to Tesla’s Powerwall Battery earlier this month. The “Residential Storage Battery System is a system based on lithium-ion batteries, with a storage capacity of 8kWh and an output of 2kW. A full charged battery could supply a 2kW output for up to 4 hours."
