Record rainfalls dumped on the region in this winter’s storms,
. . . rendered a remarkable makeover of the Judean Desert,
. . . turning it from a Middle East dust bowl,
. . . into rolling English hills.

The transient greening of deserts after rainfall is a welcome thing to desert dwellers and to desert visitors.  We try to visit a California desert area each spring, hoping to hit on a good wildflower display.  Can be spectacular if the rain has  been right.  Lots of wildflowers, with some green for just a very few weeks.   See http://www.nps.gov/d...wildflowers.htm
Not sure about the quote in Greenprophet "Middle East dust bowl into rolling English hills."  Been to England only once, but don't remember those hills looking much like temporarily greened desert hills.

Geoff Lawton shows how to reclaim a desert.  This is what we have to do!
