Should regulated utilities be allowed to offer,
. . . . . . home appliance sales and service,
. . . . . . home security systems, and
. . . . . . other services that are also offered by the private sector.
In most cases, regulators have prohibited these business lines,
. . . since utilities' unique monopoly protections,
. . . would give them an unfair advantage.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the interconnection of these embedded devices,
. . . (including smart objects),
. . . are expected to usher in automation in nearly all fields,
. . . while also enabling advanced applications like a Smart Grid.

The food giants took over smaller companies, so did the banks after the 2008 meltdown; monopolies are the rule now.
