Hi everyone,
I wanted to share an important new project with you to stop massive illegal logging operations in the Amazon rainforest.
Rainforest Connection turns recycled smartphones into solar-powered listening devices that can detect and pinpoint signs of environmental destruction in real-time. By having this alert system in place, local rangers can immediately respond to and prevent illegal logging in the Amazon.
We are trying to reach our stretch funding goal of $195,000 on Kickstarter by next Tuesday, July 29th, which will enable us to partner with the Tembé indigenous people, who we are in contact with. Are campaign page can be found at:
kickstarter(dot)com(slash)projects(slash)topherwhite(slash)rainforest-connection-phones-turned-to-forest-guar?ref=bloggers
And our website is
rfcx(dot)org
If you could help in any way - by making a donation or spreading the word anywhere you can - it would really help the project. We’re a small team and could use the help we can get!
Thanks for reading.

Also, people should STOP buying products (candy, etc.) that has palm oil in it.
Rainforests are destroyed for the uni-culture of palms for their oil.

Thanks for the link, very helpful. I have known about this just recently; I guess this must be shared so people will be informed.
Tell everyone you know to read the labels of the products they buy. If it contains palm oil (not just candy but
personal care products too) to buy an alternative that doesn't contain it.
What will we do when the rainforest's of the planet are gone?

It will be very hot. Most likely, a lot of people will die from heat stroke and the sort. A lot of people won't get to breathe fresh air and more importantly, it wouldn't be a perfect place to live if rain forest (and some other forms of natural resources) no longer exists.
