Agreed. I don't anymore. Too hard on my 872 year old body.
So I plant peppers, tomatoes, carrots-some herbs in pots that are placed higher so I don't have to bend as much
to pick out the weeds.
But hell, with climate change, I could/should be growing papaya, grapefruit, lemons, avocados.........yum.

I talked to an elderly gardener last Friday,
. . . who said he was just getting too old, to plant a large garden any more,
. . . so this year, he will plant, successive plantings of just green beans.
He considers it to have most of the medical and
. . . health giving attributes that his body needs.
What's Beneficial about Green Beans
1. Vitamin K
2. Vitamin C
3. Less calories
4. Rich in fiber
5. Folates
6. Prevents infections
7. Maintains cell and body fluid
8. Controls cardiovascular diseases and blood pressure
9. Vitamin A
10. Manganese

Not to be disagreeable, but the chart shows "boiled" We shouldn't boil veggies; they lose all their nutrients.
Steam or quick stir fry with a tiny bit of olive oil.

If boiled  then at least, we should save the water, let it cool and pour over house plants or outside on a tree. B)
But thanks for the video Ed.

Found this on the web- planting perennial gardens; for bees, butterflies and beauty.

When you don't have much space, try a "Gutter Garden"
or better yet, a multi-level "Gutter Garden"
. . . to catch all the nutrient rich water.

UrbMat: Urban Outdoor Garden Kits To Help People Grow Food,
. . . to teach people, that don't know how to garden.

UrbMat: grow herbs, vegetables, flowers, and
. . . . . . controls weeds,
. . . . . . conserves water,

Another take on home gardens-preppers love them.

From Sustainablog-

  • You are preserving your intelligence by refusing to ingest toxic ingredients. .
  • You are nourishing your body by feeding yourself real food. .
  • You are not participating in funding Big Food, Big Agri, and Big Pharma when you grow your own food.
  • You are not susceptible to the control mechanisms and threats.
