International Energy Agency Warnings

It’s not just the carbon dioxide 400 ppm, as of May.
. . . The Agency claims that carbon emissions around the world reached a record high in 2012,
. . . fueled by China’s explosive growth
. . . as Europe and the United States made small cutbacks.

People who think we are going to get a stop put to this should wake up. The amount being done to stop it means nothing compared to the people who aren't doing anything. Everyone wants to latch on to the small victories, but they are too small to have a real impact.

According to the IEA; China's CO-2 output rose 3.8% from 2011 to 2012 but fell overall, as they invest in renewables.
The US numbers fell 3/8%, as we relied more heavily on natural gas and energy efficiency.

But, the IEA also said that we are on track to see a temperature rise of 6.5-9.5 degrees.

Agreed.
These "environmental" summits, come and go, and nothing is agreed to.
I recall an old MASH episode where Hawkeye goes to the peace talks and finds out they cannot even
agree on the height of the poles the US and Korean flags should be on.

And that's why these talks break down year after year, trivial bs.

They could just list the issues on a dart board, and take turns throwing darts at it. Fix that one, move on to the next.

I agree. It's why I have stopped pushing to get it stopped and started preparing for survival and creating something to last beyond it.

Make it cheap enough and everyone and their brother will jump on it! :<)  I think the cost curves will cross over in 5-10 years.  At that time acceptance will accelerate around the world.  

The main monkey wrench in the machinery, I predict, will be the utilities not willing to democratize energy production, (at least in this country).  They are already openly critical and that will only get worse as reality for them sinks in.

Indeed, we should not assume that the EIA is off.  It will get a little more toasty and we should all plan for that.

Speaking of "Doomsday Preppers", anyone notice they have an Italian version?  Looks like "prepping" is contagious! :<)

Aquaponics is integral to my work. I work with CELSS (Completely Enclosed Life Support System's). I have an aquaponics section, but I also have a pure hydroponics and soil analog system. There are somethings which simply require a soil-type base.

Perhaps that habitat will be a wave of the future!  Looks pretty cool.  Aquaponics looks like a great idea too, I saw a demo on Planet Green back in the day.

Actually, I am a fan of autonomous floating ocean colonies. A combination of both of these concepts, but on an artificial island.
