I really miss John, almost every day I think of him, it’s been 15 years since his death and often I will sit and wonder how he would have reacted to all the environmental destructions effecting habitats all over the world, one thing I know, he would have wanted us to get involved, because there is so much for us to do….  His songs where living poems of the beauty of nature and the preciousness of the world around us, his music touched me then and still does today so..
Here are a couple of stories about how humans are making a difference for habitats, some good and some bad.  Here is an example of each.  But first a few words to ponder from John.

Poems, Prayers and Promises

The days they pass so quickly now
Nights are seldom long
And time around me whispers when it's cold
The changes somehow frighten me
Still I have to smile
It turns me on to think of growing old
For though my life's been good to me
There's still so much to do
So many things my mind has never known
I'd like to raise a family
I'd like to sail away
And dance across the mountains on the moon

I have to say it now
It's been a good life all in all
It's really fine
To have the chance to hang around
And lie there by the fire
And watch the evening tire
While all my friends and my old lady
Sit and watch the sun go down

And talk of poems and prayers and promises
And things that we believe in
How sweet it is to love someone
How right it is to care
How long it's been since yesterday
What about tomorrow
What about our dreams
And all the memories we share

John Denver

Good News
There have been those who opposed setting aside and protected areas and Marine Sanctuaries, well John understood the importance of these sanctuaries and during his life worked to bring awareness to many ocean and Marine causes, I would like to think this story would make him smile.
Green Sea Turtles Are Using Protected Habitats Effectively
http://www.redorbit....habitat-043013/
Marine Sanctuaries play a vital role for all sea life, in an era of overfishing, drag nets, coral bleaching, and wide spread pollution, these areas help sea life to reestablish foot holds in an ever changing and threaten ocean world.  We would ask you to join us in making ocean habitats a greater concern to all humans.

Now the bad news, Oil and natural gas companies are trying to destroy even more of our ocean wildlife.  Please join with us.
With enormous risks to marine lives and human livelihoods, the time to act is now to reject seismic airgun testing in the Atlantic. Actor and Oceana board member Ted Danson has joined with Oceana to spearhead a White House petition urging President Obama to reject the use of seismic airguns to search for oil and gas in the Atlantic. We need 100,000 signatures before May 15, so we are calling on each of you to sign this petition, and to share the link with your friends and family and urge them to sign it as well.
Oceana releases report on seismic airgun threats to marine life and coastal economies.
Oceana released a new report this month detailing the threats that marine life and coastal economies along the Atlantic Ocean will face from seismic airgun blasts used in testing for offshore oil and gas. The dynamite-like blasts – every 10 seconds, 24 hours a day, for weeks on end – are estimated to injure, deafen, or kill over 100,000 marine mammals in the Atlantic Ocean, while disturbing the vital behaviors of millions more.
It’s not often that Lois and I come to you asking for your support.  The Keystone Pipeline petition from 350.org was one such time http://act.350.org/l...z94C9E&rd=1&t=1
and we are asking for one more.

We petition the Obama administration to:
Stop seismic airgun testing for oil and gas off the U.S. East Coast.

Thank you to everyone who signs the petition- John would be proud.
