Shortpoet, that is my thought, that they will purge the rolls anyway. In total thirty states, are trying to suppress voter turnout. And yes, today the Montana fight against Citizen's United was tossed by the Supreme Court.
FamilyTreeClimber, democracy as we know it is under full seige.

Shortpoet, all of the election district managers are refusing to purge voters from their lists.  Governor Scott can demand all he wants, but they are the ones who will give the orders to staff.  The purges have not gone forward since the Justice Department stepped in.  Technically, Florida is violating it's own law.  State law prohibits voter purges less than 90 days before an election.  Florida has it's primaries in August (despite already having the Presidential primary).  In order for this purge to go forward, it should have been done in April.

Artistry, it is under siege.  But, it's important for the people to not give up the fight.

I heard the most ridiculous argument that these new voter laws and purges are the same as the Democrats supporting Motor Voter  and Rock the Vote.  I don't know how you can equate taking away people's right to vote to programs that work to make sure more people register to vote.

The Supreme Court ruling on Montana was disheartening today, though.  They threw out Montana's 1912 campaign finance regulation law.  John McCain even joined the state of Montana on this one.  It was a reaffirmation of Citizens United.    At some point, I hope this cycles around and bites conservatives in the butt.  They are turning a blind eye now because for the most part it benefits their campaign to a greater advantage.  But, it may not always be that way.  It's funny.  But, I do not see conservatives raving about activist justices.  Isn't that what you call justices who repeatedly overturn precedent?

This reminds me of the message in the story-"A Bug's Life."

The ants (America's citizens) kowtow to the grasshoppers (big's)  because they think the grasshoppers are superior and
dangerous; until they figure out that by coming together, in mass, they can defeat their enemy.

"Big's (whether it's big money from the crooks on wall street, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, oil, chemical companies or
billionaires that flood the airwaves with their point of view) are our nemesis (enemy may be too strong a word even
though they may be.)

We will get fed up and revolt perhaps when people realize that all the tax breaks, favors, and loopholes are
going to the 1% and we have no say in the system.

But, maybe not.

The big's will have brainwashed the masses so much by then (almost there now) that they won't put up a fight
and just accept being underprivileged and forgotten as a way of life.
