This excellent video describes the plight of one of the last temperate rainforest in the world. The environment takes back seat when it comes to minerals which the worlds economy is hungry for.The area had some protection as world heritage but the listing conveniently expired not long ago. Mining companies are falling over each other to stake claims.

Wow. All this even though the signed something last year to protect it. More like a temp stay of execution is guess.
I'm hoping there's lost of protest and uproar as sometimes regional and global attention can help sway things the people's way.

I checked out Discovertasmania.com. It seems the forest is a beautiful treasure there and a highlight for tourism as well. It would be a real shame. What address do we send our letters or signatures?!

Thanks for posting this.

Here's the Website for the Tarkine Coalition and the petition on the right side of the page. It's quite an informative site with many buttons along the top. Take time to scroll through them all and have a look at the 18 minute Brent Melton's video. It was made a year or two ago but has some beautiful and some disturbing footage.
