How do we get more people interested in this site?
This is a great forum for information, awareness, personal experiences, how-to's
and even humor.
We're at 487 members-most online at one time stands at 290; how we get more people
involved with us?

Do you blog on other sites, or post on other forums? If so, you could add a signature that links back to the site. As green living is such a popular topic, it shouldn't be to difficult to drive some traffic here.

All the time but thanks.

I am going to talk with one of my friends who has a green blog.  Maybe she can add a link to the forum, I am sure she would be happy here too.  She is still learning some of the green ideas.  You gave me some ideas

One (slightly cheeky) way is to find an interesting story, post about it on the forums, then send your friends the link to the forum page you posted.

Hopefully once reading the article they'll see an interesting discussion and be motivated to sign up.

But don't over force people to come - that never works!

Make use of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and other social networking platforms. I have several photos I shared on Pinterest that have something to do with saving the earth/environment, and most of the time, I would edit those photos and add links to various websites that promote green living. Since people love to re-pin photos, I have noticed that the websites I shared through the photos have received more visitors/members.

As for Facebook, for quite some time now, I shared tips on green living as a status update, instead of random status updates about me :D I included the links, so that my friends can learn and read more about what I have posted.

You can also promote this site offline by participating in seminars, conferences on alternative energy. It would also help if you can create a presentation and present it in front of the audience. Another idea is to distribute brochures, pens, t-shirts, mugs with the site's  name embossed on them during such events

Create a Twitter account that is not the actual AltEnergyShift's account.

Make this account to spread the word about this forum using the hashtag #green in every tweet and managing tweets as personal discussions, in example

"I came across with AltEnergyShift forum, just wondering if someone has heard of it #green"

Twitter is a great marketing tool, but people has saturated the site with "infommercials" what makes necessary new strategies interconnecting a main account with others to earn followers that eventually become forum members as well.

I have tried this strategy for a gaming site I own and it works.

I think promoting this site to people who have 'green-living' blogs is a great idea.  otherewise I have no idea.  If i knew how to drive traffic I'd have my own website making tons of money by now!

I belong to many other forums and the amount of members you have, coupled with the number of members online at one time, definitely surpasses most other forums. The majority would be lucky to have 20 members on at the same time.

If the forum owner and a few members of the support group would bookmark this forum, on a regular basis, to some of the top bookmarking sites, like Diggs, StumbleUpon, Regedit, Delicious, and a few others, that will certainly get you more attention, more visitors.

Depending on the internal structure of this site, you may be able to add a place to add keywords as tags on each thread.  It helps to boost up the Google ratings and that is always the best way I know of getting more traffic.
