To steal your bike back or call the police?

A cyclist saw his stolen bicycle advertised in something called the Craiglist in Washington DC for $100. The police were notified but took no interest so he arranged to view the bike, got on it and stole it back. The police later advised him that taking things in his own hands could be a dangerous matter.

I can see how taking things into your own hands could be dangerous in some situations, but taking a bike for a test ride is a brilliant way to do it, because you can just keep going and get away pretty quick. Good for him! I like this story. There are a lot of things like this that the police just aren't around to help out with any more and at some point we have to stand up for ourselves or we'll always be victims (sometimes that includes standing up to the police, but that's another story...)

Good to know that he got his bike back.
What is not good to know is how the police or the authority just ignore about it and then later on advised him that taking things in your own hands is dangerous. The bike owner knows it of course that is why he had asked for help but they just ignored him.

I saw this on the news the other night myself. I'm not going to lie, my first reaction was a nice hearty laugh. However, I'm very happy this man did what he did. It's terrible how our country is starting to get worse and worse regarding thievery based on poor economic situations at this time. Hopefully, we can have more vendettas of their own personal property happen without violence in return for taking what was initially their's.

Well, since it turned out alright, I think since the person who stole it was so bold and the owner of the bike saw the ad, what do you say?. I think the police should have done something, as easy as contacting the person and doing their job. They ignored the man, so he went and got his bike. I wonder if the thief was punished in any way? Probably not, I think he does what he did a lot. I could be wrong but?

Considering the financial cut backs most cities are facing these days, many police departments just don't have
the man power to deal with lesser crimes.
Let's hope the thief forgot where he stole the bike in the first place. It could be dangerous, as the cops said,
if he goes back to the guys house and steals more or hurts him in revenge.
