I once went kayaking with my cell phone/mobile phone in my shirt pocket. As I launched myself from the beach a very small wave tipped me out and you guessed it my mobile got wet. It was switched on so it was  goodnight Irene. A friend of mine had one in his pocket and when he used a composting toilet it dropped down amongst the turds.. He did retrieve it with a lot of difficulty but he said from then on it was just not the same friend of a phone as it was before. Then there was my daughter. She was told one morning that her phone was at the bottom of the toilet bowl submerged in the water. She had no recollection how it could have happened but as a young party goer I guess it was a late night. So what is it with toilets that attract phones.
Have you a funny tale of a phone straying?

My husband went swimming with his mobile phone in his pocket. It was an old, basic model, and once it dried out, it worked again. He tried the same trick with his camera - by accident, rather than design - and he wasn't so lucky. I've now stitched up the pockets in his swimming shorts, as we can't afford for him to teach any more electronic articles to swim.

The common accident or scenario I had with my cellphone was when I would sleep with it in my bed. If I will not sleep on it (an it will cracked Lol), it will end up below my bed and it is also cracked because of the cemented floor. So, I am not putting my cellphone in my bed anymore.
Have not experienced such toilet and cellphone attraction incident yet and I do not wish to experience that.

I'm just one of those super careful cautious people with things like that because I don't always have the money to replace things, so I take uber good care of them.

But, it was pretty humorous what happened to my daughter's cell phone. She was walking through a park on a walk built over a big pond that holds beavers and herons and numerous birds, and a heron flew right by her while she was texting a friend, scared her to death, her hands flew up in front of her face, the cell phone flew out of them, over the railing and into the pond. Pretty sure the beavers and birds were amused, even if I wasn't at the time. The thing is, things like that happen to her all the time.

I have had the experience of dropping mine in the toilet before. This was when I was leaning over the sink to wash my hands and hit the  release clip on the sink. It was a terrible experience!

Like mariaandrea, I try to take good care of my cell phone. The particular phone I use now is only the third one I've ever had. I used my first one until you couldn't read the numbers on the keys anymore haha.

But a friend of ours was on a boat once. He was leaning against the railing, texting someone. A huge dragonfly landed on his hand. Startled, he shook his hand frantically to get the bug off, accidentally throwing his phone out into the water. The look on his face still makes us laugh when we remember it!

I am pretty good with keeping my cell phone nice and safe. I can't afford to replace a new one, but one time my touch screen phone died so I bought one for only $14 on ebay. It was an amazing deal and I will never pay $200 for a phone again.

My daughter is always on her phone.  She was on it as she was getting into her car, put the phone on the top of the car to free up her hands so that she could move something, get into the car and took off.  Phone still on the top of the car.  Good thing she had one of those rubber casings on the phone, it helped the phone stick to the car until she remembered it was still on top of the car.

Not to bring anyone down, but thousands die every year talking on them while driving.

I have lost many phones to circumstance! Mainly because I am a very clumsy person and I usually have my mind up in the clouds. There was even this one time I was at the beach side and after I sent a text I put my phone in my board shorts pocket only to forget it was there before going into the water. I must say celphones don't like saltwater one bit lol. :D Thanks for sharing your stories with us. :)

I think I am an outcast.  I do not have a cell phone.  I've never owned one.

I am disabled and a home a lot.  I don't really like to talk on the phone.  So, I don't see the need for me to have one with me all the time.  I kind of like being disconnected.

My crummy little flip phone is about 7 - 8 years old now. It still takes calls like a champ, and even photos if you don't mind them being like 400 x 600 resolution.    I am clumsy and have dropped it MANY times, but luckily never into water.

Some days I kind of wish it would finally call it quits so I can finally justify getting a new phone, but I should probably be grateful that it doesn't make texting easy and can't access the web so I am still getting by on a PRE-PAID plan... I use about $100 of credit every 3 months on text and talking... or $30 a month.

I suppose if I am lucky some provider will finally offer phone, text, and web for $30 a month. Until they do, I am not sure I am willing to pay more than I do right now.

I have always been good with keeping my phone close to me *knock on wood* I can't afford to buy a new phone, so I make sure I keep my existing one safe and sound. I can't say the same for my 10 year-old-stepdaughter who has lost two or three phones that we bought for her <_<
