My husband's work is very good about recycling everything.  All of their plastic, cardboard, aluminum and paper are all recycled.  They have very little garbage.  They have all of their employees trained very well to recycle everything.  He works as a store director at a grocery store.  They used to go through a lot of garbage.  They have really improved over the last year or so and everything is now recycled.

How does your business or place of employment recycle?  Are they pretty good about recycling?  Are the employees pretty responsible about recycling everything that is recyclable?

We do it well because I'm the only one on bin duty! I've been there nearly 15 years and I still haven't been promoted! Nothing gets past me. I'm the bottom line. The buck stops here. You get the idea. Everything is sorted into every grade and sub-grade of metal (eg. cast aluminium must be separated from extruded aluminium - can you spot the difference?). I'm in the automotive electronics industry and we have a lot more stuff that's tricky to disassemble and sort than most. The great thing about it is I get to keep all the cash I get from doing it. Am I a corrupt little enviro-saint or what? :shifty:  :angel2:

I used to work in  a company where there are lots of papers used for printing journals and documents. And they improved it for using recycled paper and less printing kind of policies. All the papers there are also recycled or sold to a recycling company. That makes the expenditures in the office much less and less clutter too.

You are lucky to be on the position! I believe you are making a great deal out from those scraps, right? I have a friend whom I think has the same work situation as yours and he prefer it that way because his earnings out from those scraps is bigger than his monthly salary! *lols

I work online, we do not have any business to run... But I am sure is saving anything that I can. :)

Now I work at home so I guess I can say my work is good with recycling B)  My past jobs did not do well with recycling, but that was years ago.  I would hope they all got better!

My business is an excellent recycler. Did I mention I'm self employed?

Actually, I'm also working a long term temp job a few days a week in an office that does a good job with recycling. There's a recycle bin at every desk and a large one in the kitchen. There's also a large compost bin in the kitchen for putting food scraps in because our city does composting, which I think is cool.

I'm self-employed too and most of my work is about being at the computer so the only material to recycle are electronic parts and hardware that is worn out.

However this waste doesn't come out too often, but when it happens there are public containers to get the local government recycling these things.

That's great.  Sounds like you are very good at recycling and then making some extra cash on the side for it too.  It sounds like you might be better off staying where you are instead of being promoted since you do a good job at recycling everything that needs to be recycled and because it makes you some extra cash on the side.  I guess I would want to stay where i'm at it this was the case.  I know someone that goes around and picks up things around his neighborhood and takes it in to recycle it.  He makes $300.00 just doing this.

That is awesome.  I am so happy to hear when people do recycle and save on the environment.  It is so important especially in this day and age.

That is awesome.  We recycle everything here at home too.  All of our plastics, cardboard and paper all gets recycled.  We have a large recycling bin from our village that gets picked up every other week.  It is always filled to the top so much that the lid doesn't even close.  This is so important for both at work and at home.  I think that more people are aware of it these days than they used to be years ago or even than they were a year ago.

That is so awesome.  That is one thing that we should consider having is a compost bin.  This is something that I really haven't thought about until now.  Thanks for sharing this.  I am really happy that your business at home and at your temp job recycles everything as well.

That is great!  I'm happy to hear that when it is time to throw away the parts and hardware from the computer that it does get recycled instead of just being thrown out in the garbage.  It really sounds like most people are doing an excellent job at recycling things that should be recycled.

I would say it is average. I work in healthcare, so the one thing that does get recycled properly is paper. All confidential paper must be placed into a certain locked bin in order to be destroyed. The biggest area of improvement I see is with soda cans/ bottles. Some area do not have recycling containers handy so I often see them in garages, especially in patient rooms.

I am also self-employed, but I do try to implement recycling programs with local small business owners in my area. I saw a lot of plastic bottles and cans in the trash can at Office Depot and told them about recycling so the manager set up a bin for customers. Just suggesting or mentioning the need will usually get good results.
