I used to donate to the Arbor Day Foundation years ago. I haven’t done so in quite some time so I am no longer affiliated with them. (Like most everyone, my “donation dollars” are extremely limited, so I chose one charity -- the Nature Conservancy -- as my recipient.)
However, if you’re interested in getting some free trees, they still have the same membership freebie offer that they had years ago. For a donation as small as $10usd they will give you 10 baby trees of your choice, and ship them to you at the correct planting time for your area.
I took advantage of this offer some years ago, and they are true to their word. I chose 10 trees, which arrived healthy and in a timely manner. They’re this year’s babies -- 6-12” tall so they’re little guys, but they will grow. You’ll receive instructions with them, too.
“In your honor,” the Foundation will also plant 10 trees in a “forest in need”.

I LOVE that they still do this. If I had a yard or anywhere at all to plant them I'd donate, but in the meantime I'd urge everyone who can to do so. 10 trees for the price of a couple of lattes? In my neck of the woods, one of the package choices has dogwoods, redbuds and goldenraintrees, all of which are so beautiful. And another has 10 eastern redcedar trees. Amazing.

Wow, I'm surprised that they still do this. I live in an apartment complex, so I don't can't plant any trees. This is wonderful for anyone who can take advantage of it.

Do you have family or friends that are homeowners? Donate to the cause and plant the trees in their yard.

I never knew that they did this. What a great way to reward donations given! I am going to check into this. I don't have much space, but I have friends that could sure use the trees to plant in their yards.
