Got a battery charger once used with my old Nokia phone. Not using it now since it is not compatible with my current mobile phone battery as it does not have multiple plug for different phone model type. It works well at that time, but this one surely is a plus.

Looking at the charging times there, it's probably not a viable option for most people. The minimum charging time seems to be 12 hours for a phone, and up to 24 or more. That's okay if you can afford to do without your phone for a day, but most people couldn't do that. Not sure if it's worth the saving in electricity due to the inconvenience factor.

Maybe it would be nice to throw in a emergency kit.  I didnt realize it took 12-24 hours ouch!

I think this a good idea, as I see it there are batteries in device that are charged in day, then you plug this into phone at evening? Could be hassle though to remember to put in sun - without getting stolen

I like this. I'm not joined at the hip to my cell phone ,so I can do without it for a day. I would definitely give this kind of charger a try.

I think more people would be willing to try it if part of the solar source that could be used would be regular lights, like a solar calculator. I don't even have a place that I could regularly place that were it wouldn't get tossed in the trash or I would continue to remember to check on it or retrieve at the end of the day.

It, or something like this charger would be a nice thing to have on hand if an emergency hit, like a tornado, or severe thunderstorm that blew a transformer and you would be out of power for a few days, etc. This could go into a bug out bag everyone should have. The item will charge up your phone off of two AA batteries according to the description.

Now, that I think about this and I looked at the price again, it sounds like something for campers or for going to the beach for the day. There are no other ways to charge up your devices, but this will help while you're out and about enjoying your trip.

I have one of those cell phone chargers and they do really work despite it takes really load of time to get charged.

However the main reason to purchase it is my concern about electricity; having suffered a major electrical issue that left me without power for months, I try to have solar backups after such experience.

This is a new device to me.  I agree that a fully charged device for emergency is a good idea.  We had a storm come thru our area that had us out of power for 5 days.  Everyone was looking for a source to charge their phones.  This diffently could be it.

I invested in a windup portable radio., which works great. But other than that, I do not have any rechargable gadgets that I know of around here.

This would be something to put on a Christmas list, or pick up and put aside for an emergency. Buying items like this, and others like the crank radio, shake flashlights can be a God send in a time of need.

Thank you for sharing this topic. I haven't thought about having solar powered gadgets for a while. This could really be useful especially in emergencies. I heard that it would take a long time to charge a solar battery charger but I really wouldn't mind because I think it's really worth the wait. I'm definitely buying one!
