It is scary to know that these products have no regulations. They go on lips and make-up goes on skin. Many of the chemicals that go on your skin go through your skin. I am so glad that I don't use lipstick or make-up, but I know that many women do.

FDA, EPA and other agencies don't address these issues, because we LET THEM.
We sit on our collective duffs, wag our fingers and say "Oh, what a shame, they're not doing more."
They work for US. But we watch reality shows, and dancing shows, or spend an hour or two on twitter; or
if we're real good, we take the kids to their soccer match or baseball game. Big whoop.
Obviously, too many of those mothers and fathers, don't consider their children's future, the toxins they'll
have to battle against on a daily basis. But they can't miss the game, can they?
They can't be bothered with sending e-mails or letters to their congressmen or their senators, or the president.
We are finding our voice in many area's; women especially but too many don't know/don't care/won't be bothered
in letting our leaders/agencies know how we feel.
How many horrible anti "you name it" laws have been passed since the baggers got into office? Thousands.
Invasive ultra sound exams and decimating the labor unions are a few of the ones we hear about but what
about all the rest?
Some get attention, rallies, protests. But most get quietly passed because we-us-Americans
sit back and let it happen.
Allowing gas fracking with a toxic stew in our backyards is no different than toxins in our products.
We're not engaged enough in this country. We allow it.

Yeah, too many people do not want to be bothered contacting anybody. I am one of those people that always goes to the top when I see a problem. If I have a problem on a county level, I email our governor. I have emailed the Whitehouse to express concerns too about different safety issues. I never really thought much about the lipstick tho, I don't wear it and my kids are not allowed to wear it. Now that I know, it is a different story!

(Btw-my activist soapbox rant wasn't directed at you, just to folks in general.)

Yes, that is truly ab
Yes, that's truly discouraging and recalls me that in my younger days I used to wear my mother's lipsticks, some of which were very old brass tubes smelling as bad as they tasted, some like a mix of metal and petroleum.
Being a teenager, I used to resolve the "problem" by adding a coat of flavored lip gloss, but not being aware of the real problem until many years later.

My husband used to always say that my lipstick always smelled. Why would I want that on my lips?
