Has anyone heard of Ellie Pooh Paper? Yes, there is such a paper that is made from poop! Actually, it is made of elephant dung. It is filtered and cleaned though. It works well because elephants mainly eat grass.

A very eco-friendly way to make paper. A little disgusting, but interesting.

Would you be willing to use paper made out of poop?

Not so sure I would be interested in using paper made from poop, anyone's poop really.  I'm sure it's totally clean and hygenic and everything but it just seems so gross.

Animal dung has been used for millennia for fuel -feeding fires - which means that people collected it in fields, shaped it, dried it and used it. If the technology exists to filter and purify it and turn it into paper I'd be fine with it. And, it's not like it's human poop.

No, I don't think I could, if I knew about its origins. I wouldn't even use paper made from my own - shall we say leavings, so I certainly wouldn't want to caress my cheeks with other people's. This is one of those cases where I think recycling has taken things just a little bit too far.

I've used this before (not sure if it's the same company) and it has the same texture and consistency as most other craft paper.  If they didn't market it as "poop paper", no one would be any the wiser and I'd guess their sales would be higher.

Just say it's all natural.

I had watched a documentary before about dung paper which is made from elephant's dung.
And the finish product paper looks good and can be used to made some paper art. I might consider buying it if ever I would find a very good use of it.;)

This part is true, but I can't stream mainstream america embracing 'poop paper' as it is marketed now.

Yeah wow I'm surprised.. This is such a turnoff I don't even know where to begin.  I'm surprised such a thing even exists to be honest.  It is a unique idea, I have to give them credit for that, but still I just don't see people buying this.  Maybe it could be used for things you wouldn't put your hands on, but the idea as is is just utterly disgusting to me.

^ That's what the plain white looks like and like yoder said, it looks like any other recycled paper even. I'm okay with it and I'm sure it works just fine. The site says it's 50% poo fiber and 50% post consumer product, so it's not 100% dung you're writing on.

Also, while they might sell more by just calling it natural, I think there's also a market here by calling it pooh paper that attracts people to the oddity of it.

Seems a little counter productive doesn't it? Two wrongs don't make a right? Haha. Well granted
the initial thought would have me saying no way, but as mariaandrea said, if it was properly
purified, fileter, and de-poopified, then I probably wouldn't have an issue with it. More
likely one of those things I'd rather be not told and just given the paper with a green
friendly stamp on it. lol. However the many other uses of paper I think is where they should
start this technology, as into third world countries or villages that have sanitation issues.
If this stuff can be produced eventually as fast and for as much or less of paper then it
would put a nice dent in a lot of problems.

I would rather look at poop as a fertilizer.  There is no way I would buy any paper if I knew it was made from any dung, animal or human.  I just believe that it is unsanitary.

Yeah its better to use poop as fertilizer, farmers from Asian countries use cow poop as fertilizer. I am sure we can use the poop in other ways, writing on paper made from poop sounds gross to me.

It's natural to think that way at first, but you also have to consider what process it'd have to go through before becoming paper. It's going to be sanitary by the end, no doubt. And realistically, think about what elephants eat (which is the kind of dung they use).....their main diet is going to produce an, um, end product that will be very fibrous and easily converted into paper.

Lmao! Okay, so yeah, maybe your wedding photos shouldn't necessarily be printed on elephant poo. Then again, if it were a very "green" couple, this could maybe solidify and represent them even more, ha. For everyday use, though, I think it'd be fine to use this sort of paper.

Definitely an interesting concept, but it seems more gimmicky than practical. I mean, it's not like they have a farm full of elephants producing this, right? They have to go collect it and then go through all the processing. Why not just use the collected elephant poop as fuel or fertilizer.
Actually, the city zoo where I used to live sold bags of animal poop as fertilizer - you could reserve it and they would give you a big garbage bag of poop. People with big gardens would buy it- it was a really popular program. That seems a better use of elephant poop- and one people are more likely to use.
I'd potentially use the paper, I just feel like it is not really the most environmentally friendly solution.
