From one perspective we're just parasites on the earth and the amazing healing capacity of the planet means if we all vanish it will be fine. In the meantime, of course, it's up to us to act as responsible stewards. Are we failing at the job?

I remember seeing, many years ago, a cartoon about aliens evaluating the Earth and noting that the dominant forms of life seemed to be these colorful metal boxes that were overrun with parasites. The parasites would wake the boxy life forms up from their natural meditative state and force them to move at high speeds, occasionally forcing them into one another and injuring them. Plans were underway to eliminate the parasites and save the boxy life forms.

We're like the lice on our own heads. The problem is we act as if we're the only important creatures in our planet thus it's easy for us to take down the rest for our own good. That’s why when the aliens should evaluate our performance, we will be marked as fail being the destroyers of their broccolis and pet fish and they will have us annihilated.

We've lost touch with nature, we live in "neighborhoods."
Rather than marvel in the beauty of a butterfly, we catch them with a net.............

The American Indians had it right in the 1800's; honor Mother Earth.

"Advanced stage humans" indeed.
