This was emailed to me today. A solar powered backpack for under $200. Best of all it by Samsonite. We often go hiking here in Nevada. There's lots of trails and lots of sunshine! We your hours away from the nearest power outlet a cell phone or iPod is only useful till it looses charge.

Road warriors can literally recharge their batteries by just exposing these bags to about four hours of direct sunlight. Front organizer panel has 12v adapter (car charger input) with pockets and cord organizers. Solar panel has an output of approximately 4.5 watts. Constructed of 450 Denier recycled PET fabric.

The best deals I could find online are on Ebay (Auction) and Amazon.

I have looked on Ebay UK and can't seem to find anything similar, I will keep looking though. This will get so much use in my household as we are an outdoor family (when the weather lets us!) Thanks for this Admin. I will post here if I find a UK supplier.

I found one of these for €138 on a Swiss site that specializes in eco equipment (http://www.soproshop.ch/). I use it all the time now - it is just perfect for our weekend hikes and camping trips. They also have a much smaller solar powered bag that they call a city bag and solar powered straps and anklets for cyclists.

This is the perfect solution for my summer trips to the lake.
I like going into the nature, with my laptop, writing or doing yoga (from DVD), but my tiny battery finishes immediately, so I can not enjoy it to much...

I will definitely buy one.
Thank you Julie for sharing the Swiss shop link with us

I researched for it. :) Sad to say I can't afford it. I'll wait until this gets on a cheaper price!

I love these backpacks and having one of them would be certainly very useful even when I have to go out there all day long, however they are still too pricey for my tight budget :\

Fantastic! The cheapest I found after a quick search was for about $104. For the avid hiker that also appreciates (needs :) ) technology, this is probably doable. I love the idea.

..What a great idea for those who love the outdoors and can make very good use of the backpack. Ingenious. As time goes on, the price will come down, as there will be those companies, who will copy the idea. Thanks for sharing this. Neat.
