#renewables Can't Run A Steel Plant

Politician: Australia's, Tony Abbott says,
. . . "You can’t run a steel plant on renewables,
. . . you can’t run an aluminium smelter on renewables, and
. . . if we want to keep all of these heavy industries,
. . . we have got to have reliable baseload power, and
. . . the only way you can do that,
. . . is with coal, or with a gas."

Businessman: Billionaire Sanjeev Gupta,
. . . the owner of the biggest steel plants, both in the UK, and now in Australia,
. . . declared the very next day,
. . . that you can run a steel plant on renewables, and
. . . that is exactly what he intends to do, with:
. . . . . . solar,
. . . . . . wind,
. . . . . . pumped hydro,
. . . . . . battery storage, and some
. . . . . . co-generation.

What’s more, it will probably cost him,
. . . 1/3 less to do it that way.
