Laws Make It Hard For Military To Go Solar

Having spent billions of dollars on renewable energy already,
. . . the Pentagon knows that it gets a significantly better deal,
. . . when it buys the electricity directly using an instrument called,
. . . a 3rd-power Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Using PPAs, the military is currently saving millions of dollars,
. . . by locking in set rates for renewable energy,
. . . rather than paying constantly rising utility bills.

In fact, the military is using 3rd-party PPAs for the entirety of,
. . . a $7 billion renewable energy buy to save the most money for taxpayers.

But, PPAs, are illegal in 5 States:
. . . . . . Florida: PSC Decision: Docket 860725-EU; Order 17009 (1987)
. . . . . . Georgia: GA Territorial Act: O.C.G.A. § 46-3-1
. . . . . . Kentucky: KRS 278.010 (3)
. . . . . . North Carolina: General Statutes § 62‐3(23)
. . . . . . Oklahoma: 17 Okl. St. § 151; O.A.C. § 165:40
